The Embassy of the Ottoman State in Athens was opened in 1840. Because of the World War I and the Turkish War of Independence, our diplomatic relations with Greece was suspended between 1 July 1917 and 11 January 1924.

One of the buildings of theEmbasywas purchased in July 1934 by the Republic of Turkey. As a mansion, the building was used by Georgios Skouzes family, Don Guido Canti Bolognetti (the Prince of Vukovar), Mr. Georgios Frangopoulos, Mr. Athanasios Andritsakis and Mr. Eleftherios Venizelos, former Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic.

Having constructed in 1926, the building has the neo-classic Greek architecture style. It is made of stone masonry and consists of 3 floors. It is located in the historical heart of Athens, close by the Presidential Place and Prime Ministry around only 100 meters. The Embassy building reflects the neo-classical architecture of the period between the two World Wars.

An additional building for the Embassy was purchased and began its servicesin June 2013. That building is located between Rigilis, Likiou and Stisihorou streets and is just facing theother building ofthe Embassy. The new building is 1.300 m2 and constructed in a site of 609 m2. It was built in early 1900’s and has 3 floors and a basement.
